The ARRL Field Day event is happening again this year, albeit with operators slightly more physically distanced due to COVID-19 safety guidelines.
Field Day is always the fourth full weekend of June, beginning at 1800 UTC Saturday and running through 2059 UTC Sunday, effectively 11:00 AM Saturday June 27 to 1:59 PM on Sunday June 28.
NORAC will not be having an official get-together this year.
However, we encourage all NORAC club members to operate "on their own, but together."
What we mean by that is: work from your own physically isolated station, but when you submit your log to the ARRL, ensure that you identify your club as the "North Okanagan Radio Amateur Club". You will be then be ranked individually and by club in the event results. Maybe NORAC can claim the top club spot in Canada?
Check this link: ARRL Field Day 2020 for dates, times, rules, rule exceptions for this special COVID-19 year, logging information, when to listen for broadcast messages, etc.
Jane VE7WWJ and Mike VE7KPZ will be heading out in the Unimog to a private S0-noise location in the woods this year. We are still contemplating a 1B or 1BB class entry. With HF conditions poor, using new technologies like FT8 are very attractive... and these weak-signal digital modes can do a lot with 5 watts of RF power.
Hope to work you during the event,
Mike VE7KPZ
